things to do

For those of you who will coming in from out of town, the Greater Cincinnati area has a TON to offer!

Both the ceremony and reception will be taking place at the Cincinnati Nature Center, about 30 minutes east of downtown. The Nature Center is nestled in Rowe Woods, which covers 1,000 acres of forest, ponds, and streams. With 16 miles of trails to explore and a bustling visitors center, there is plenty to do without even venturing outside of Milford!

But of course, when in Cincinnati, one must do as the Cincinnatians do! One of Janene's favorite things to do growing up in Cincinnati was to spend the day at the Cincinnati Museum Center & Union Terminal. The building that houses the Museum of Natural History & Science, Duke Energy Children's Museum, the Cincinnati History Museum, and the Omnimax theatre is a former train station that served as a major transfer point for soldiers during World War II. History, art, science, film, and architecture buffs alike could spend hours exploring Union Terminal.

Cincinnati is also home to the the Taft Museum of Art, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and of course, the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum! If you're a plant lover, the Krohn Conservatory  in Eden Park offers great tours of it's grounds and greenhouse, and if animals are more your thing, the Cincinnati Zoo is fantastic- lots of primates, Janene's favorite! For sweeping views of the city, Mount Adams is just the ticket, and the Carew Tower boasts an observation deck and shopping, to boot. Fountain Square is certainly a well-known Cincinnati landmark, and is always a bustling place to be, with festivals, markets, and events on the calendar often.

While it is a bit a jaunt from downtown & Milford, Jungle Jim's in Janene's hometown of Fairfield, is a can't miss destination. An international market of EPIC proportions, Jungle Jim's has just about anything you could ever want - spices, vegetables, and meats from all over the world, exotic and rare wines, beers, and cheese, a dancing Elvis, and the World's Nicest Bathrooms. People literally drive hours to stock up, and if you have the time, it's definitely worth the trip! Fun Fact: Janene's high school is directly across the street, and Janene's first car accident happened just outside Jungle Jim's - no, it was not her fault... ;-)

Before leaving town, be sure to check out the best of Cincinnati cuisine - try the famous 3-way at Skyline, sample Cincinnati's best pizza at LaRosa's, dive headfirst into a pint of Graeter's ice cream, treat yourself to a "Hot Mess" at The Echo, and throw on a bib and get those fingers dirty with a slab of ribs from the Montgomery Inn Boat House. If you simply can't hit them all, Janene suggest a Cincinnati trifecta: Skyline for lunch, LaRosa's for dinner, and Graeters for dessert! :-)

Most of all, we want you to enjoy your time in and near the Queen City - if you have any questions or would like some suggestions on how to spend your time, please let us know!
